What is a Coach?

Life coaching helps individuals move forward and set personal and professional goals that will give them the life they really want. The coach helps a client clarify their own agenda and supports them in creating and following through on a strategy to achieve their goals.

Coaching is not counseling or psychotherapy. Coaching does not endorse any one method, instead helps the client identify what path or method works best for them.

A client would come to coaching for help in some of the following areas:

Recovery coaching, like Life coaching, helps individuals move forward and set personal goals. However, the focus is on those individuals who are considering or who are actively in recovery for alcohol, drugs or addictive behaviors. The coach will help them find ways to stop (abstinence) or reduce harm associated with these substances or behaviors.

Recovery coaches do not diagnose or medically treat addiction. Recovery coaches assist clients in finding resources for addiction, detox facilities, local or on-line support groups or can assist clients in creating a change plan to recover on their own.
